Stephanie Johnson Photography (StephJohnPhoto) | Print Info & How to Order

Ordering prints from any of the portfolios on my website is easy and seamless, from both the desktop site or the mobile site.

Desktop Site -

  • Once you've navigated to a portfolio on the desktop site, you may click the 'Buy' button in the top right corner of the portfolio, and then select the photos you wish to purchase by clicking on them.

  • Or, inside the portfolio, simply roll your cursor over the image you choose and click the 'Buy' button that shows up below the selected image, and this will then take you to the Print Shop.

  • Or finally, if you click on any of the images in the portfolio, the slideshow will open up, for viewing the images larger, and there is a green 'Buy' button in the top right corner for each image.  Scroll through the images in the slideshow and then click the 'Buy' button for the image you choose.

Mobile Site -

  • Once you've navigated to a portfolio on your mobile device, you may tap the red shopping cart icon and a dialogue box will open with the option to Select Photos, Buy All, or View Cart.  By choosing Select Photos, you will then be able to tap on the image you choose and the shopping cart icon will change to the number of items selected.  Clicking on the shopping cart icon again will then allow you to select 'Buy Selected' and will take you to the Print Shop to customize your order.

  • Or, inside the portfolio, you may tap an image, which will then open it in a new window for viewing larger, and the shopping cart icon will be visible on the image.  Simply tap the cart and select 'Buy,' which will then then take you to the Print Shop.

Print Shop -

Once inside the Print Shop, you will be able to customize the order to your preferences, with regard to size, print medium, and matting if desired.  Please note that some images will not print optimally at all the various sizes due to aspect ratio.  You may choose the 'Best Fit' options inside the Print Shop, which will show you the optimal print sizes for the image.  If, however, you would like to choose a different size, just be aware there will be some cropping of the image involved to fit the chosen print size, but you will have the option to determine how you want the image cropped by clicking the 'Crop' button below the image in the Shop.

I have my cameras set up to shoot in 3:2, aspect ratio, and even when I crop my images, I generally maintain that aspect ratio for the cropped image.  Unless I have cropped an image using the 1:1 (square) ratio or the 16:9 (what most computer displays are these days) ratio, a 3:2 aspect ratio image 'fits' best with these sizes in the Print Shop - 8x12, 16x24, 20x30, 24x36.

The other popular sizes people tend to look for are 10x13, 11x14, and 16x20, and these sizes work well with 4:3 aspect ratio images.  Just please be aware that while I may offer these popular sizes in the Print Shop, the 'fit' will not be as optimal as it will be for the 3:2 aspect ratio sizes I mention above.

One last thing, I have added a 1-inch border around all the images in my portfolio so the images will not print all the way to the edge of the paper.  This way, if you are going to mat the image, you may do so without overlapping the mat onto the image, and you may even mat so there is a white border between the image and the mat (which I find particularly nice).

To better understand this concept of print size in relation to aspect ratio, have a look at this video from Mpix, one of the photo labs I currently work with in my Print Shop.

The labs I'm currently working with through my online Print Shop are Mpix and Mpixpro.  Both labs offer premium quality prints, using top-of-the-line papers and materials to produce finished materials that will last for generations.  Each product receives personal care and attention by a team member before it is sent on to its final destination, so you can rest assured the print you order from my Print Shop will be of the highest quality.
